Welcome to the intersection of Blockchain and IoT.

PROJECT OAKEN

BLOCKCHAIN & IOT

Our Oaken platform makes 'ACORNs', for each physical application within the real world. Our IoT blockchain platform design uses Nodejs to interact with the gpio of the machine where hardware can be monitored and controlled.  Our secure hardware environment utilizes Secure Elements in each acorn to protect against external threats.  Acorns each have a special purpose, but can be easily scaled and replicated for multiple applications.

For our UAE Govhack hackathon submission we have created an automobile acorn, that we’ve connected to a Tesla, and a tollbooth acorn.  The Tesla and the tollbooth interact via RFID, the ethereum blockchain and IPFS to seamlessly pay toll.

THE HARDWARE

At the core of our offering is the hardware. Our hardware profile starts with a linux based SOC - or - System on a Chip. Within that SOC we install an Ethereum node, an IPFS node and NodeJS with some supporting nodejs modules. In our proof of concepts we have used the BeagleBone Black prototyping board, but, because we have utilized the ethereum client in LIGHT CLIENT MODE,  this can be swapped for smaller linux based SOCs like the Intel Edison, Intel Joule or Samsung Artik chips. You can find our Technical Specification PDF below.

A.C.O.R.N.S.

The platform grows, what we like to call 'acorns', for each physical application - IOT Machines with Autonomous Communication Over Redundant Node Systems. Our simple platform design uses Nodejs to interact with the gpio of the machine where hardware can be monitored and controlled. Acorns each have a special purpose, but can be easily replicated for multiple machine applications and can scale. With that in mind, ACORNS are unlimited. From Oil and Gas distribution controls, to Insulin Dosage Management, and of course our favorite, Beer and Wine vending, ACORNS span a wide range of industrial and personal applications.

OUR VISION

Our overall project vision is to be THE IOT hardware and distributed software platform that powers smart cities, with automated machine to machine controls and TRUE value transfer.

JOHN GERRYTS John Gerryts is a Technologist that has been involved in the cryptocurrency space since 2013. Beginning as an active miner, John is the organizer for the Niagara Bitcoin Meetup Group, and has led a few projects surrounding IoT + Blockchain technology (mostly related to Ethereum.org as early as PoC3). For the last 23 years, John has been involved at different levels of technology, with roles such as Network Administrator, Telecommunications Specialist, and Senior Network & Electronics Integrator. His Project Airlock placed 3rd at the "In Crypto We Trust" Hackathon which has since been mentioned in the Canadian Senate and on the Joe Rogan Experience Podcast by Andreas Antonopolous.

SHUANG LIANG (LEX) Shuang Liang (Lex) is an enthusiast for new technologies. He has been a researcher, developer in network security, Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain. Lex graduated with Master's degree in 2016.  He has published several academic papers about mobile system (Android) security and internet of things during his time in school. And he started researching about Bitcoin and the later blockchain technologies from 2015. Along pursuing his degree, Lex also finished two internships. One is with Interdigital Communications that he implemented the CoAP (Constrained Application Protocol)  on IoT devices and presented with a smart home environment control PoC. The second internship is with Monax (previous named Eris Industries). He helped porting eris blockchain platform to IoT devices and implemented an IoT supply chain prototyping on eris blockchain. Lex is now working on Blockchain and IoT full time.
